What You’ll Do:

Parkwood Master Builder is committed to providing the very best in customer service and, as such, this role holds huge importance.  The Architectural Technologist will report to the Vice President of Operations, and work closely with the production and sales teams.  The Architectural Technologist role is accountable for:

  • Designing and developing new home models, modified standard models and multi-family sites.
  • Drawing rough and detailed scale plans for foundations, buildings and structures based on preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations specification sheets, etc.
  • Designing house plans as specified on purchase agreements and associated addendums and/or change orders.
  • Analyzing building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements and other technical documents and reports to determine their effect on architectural designs.
  • Securing engineered designs and quotes from various suppliers.
  • Ensuring compliance with Alberta Building Code, City of Edmonton (and surrounding areas) Zoning Bylaws and the Architectural Guideline requirements for all subdivisions.
  • Interacting with sales team, providing guidance and support to ensure customer goals are achieved.
  • Coordinating inter-office project scheduling and forecasting.
  • Interacting with construction team, trades, suppliers, and production team to ensure smooth and timely outcomes.
  • Performing on-site inspection of new designs and incorporates improvements.
  • Remaining current on code, bylaw, engineering, and industry changes by attending, industry seminars, information sessions and Professional Home Builders Institute of Alberta courses.
  • Revising existing master plans and options.
  • Preparing applications for building/development permits.
  • Preparing architectural guideline applications and drawing design changes as needed.

Who you are:

  • You are customer service focused with the ability to creatively solve problems effectively.
  • You have a thorough understanding and working knowledge of residential construction.
  • You have strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • You have your CAD qualification and experience in SoftPlan or AutoCAD (Revit)
  • You possess working knowledge of the City of Edmonton Zoning By-Law and the Alberta Building Code.
  • You have strong organizational and time management skills with ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • You are experienced in the City of Edmonton requirements for development and building permit submissions.
  • You possess an Architectural Technology or Technician Diploma with a minimum of 3 years industry experience.
  • Graduates from a recognized CAD Program will also be considered.
  • You are self-motivated with the ability to work well both in a team and independently.
  • You have excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
