The Building Process

Home Images

Since we know all of our customers by name, not job number, we can ensure that your Parkwood home is built with you in mind, in a timely, straighforward and professional manner.

The personalised service you receive throughout your home building’s process, with your Contruction Coordinator and Area Sales Manager, ensures that your home is built the way you want it.

1. Select your home

Once you’ve chosen your home style, location and lot with your Area Sales Manager, they will help you to obtain mortgage financing. Upgrade possibilities will also be discussed if you require any additional features such as extra interior finishes, a finished basement or additional windows and doors.

2. Deposit and purchase agreement

Upon selection of your home, a deposit will need to be made and the purchase agreement is to be signed.

3. Setup your loan

Once your agreement has been accepted, your loan paperwork needs to be filled out and submitted by your mortgage broker.

4. Personalise your home

This is the time to select options and upgrades to make your home your own. You’ll have a 3 hour interior design consultation to help you choose items such as paint colours, cabinets, flooring, countertops, lighting and fixtures.

5. Construction orientation

At this point you’ll have an orientation with your home building team – the Construction Coordinator, the Sales Manager and your Sales Associate – to go through any questions and concerns you may have.

6. Hard hat tours

Several hard hat tours with your sales consultant are arranged during the construction of your home so you can see it progress at various stages.

7. Completion date

The completion date is confirmed via letter 35 days before possession.

8. Legal documents

Legal documents and final statement of adjustments are drawn. This will notify you of funds you need to bring to the final signing.

9. Setup your utilities

Don’t forget to call to set up utilities and phone service in your new home.

10. City inspection

After the city’s final inspection your home is ready for you.

11. Pre-occupancy tour

A few weeks before possession, your Area Sales Manager and Parkwood’s Construction Manager will take you on an orientation to explain all the elements of your new home. Items you identify as needing additional attention at this stage will be noted and passed onto the construction team for completion.

12. Welcome home

Your building team will take you through your new home at possession.

13. Service orientation

Four to six weeks after you’ve moved in, our Service Coordinator will come to your new home and show you how to care and maintain it. Every Parkwood home is covered by a comprehensive one year warranty that ensures your home is running efficiently and to our standards.

At the orientation, you will be shown how to make customer service requests 24/7, via phone, fax, or email.
